Revson Fountain

The Revson Fountain stands as the centerpiece of Josie Robertson Plaza, serving as a gateway to the Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts. Originally dedicated in nineteen sixty four, the fountain was designed by architect Philip Johnson to act as a glowing, moving focal point for the campus, much like a fireplace provides the heart of a home. Its construction was made possible through a donation from the Revlon Foundation in honor of Charles Revson, the founder of the cosmetics company. When it first debuted, it held the distinction of being the most technologically advanced fountain in New York City.
