The Harrison Tower stands out in downtown Portland for its deep, vertical grid of dark brown concrete and rows of recessed balconies that give the facade a waffle-like texture. Built in nineteen sixty-five, this high-rise emerged during a period when city planners pushed for dense, modern living in the urban core. Architect Saul Zaik designed the structure to provide efficient, high-density residential space. It remains a stark, modernist presence among the glass-heavy towers that define the city skyline today.
