The Eighteenth Century Garden features symmetrical brick paths lined with boxwood hedges and iron gates that mirror the formal style of the seventeen hundreds. This space serves as an intentional replica of the ornamental gardens that wealthy Philadelphians maintained behind their townhouses during the colonial era. In nineteen seventy-six, the Garden Club of America designed the plot to provide a quiet, period-accurate setting for residents, relying on historical records to ensure the flowers and herbs reflect what residents grew here centuries ago.
