Liberty Bell Center

The glass pavilion housing the Liberty Bell features a massive, floor-to-ceiling window that frames the spire of Independence Hall in the background. The bell arrived in Philadelphia in seventeen fifty-two, arriving cracked after its very first test ring. Workers recast it twice before it finally hung in the State House steeple. Its famous splintered line appeared decades later, during a slow, irreparable fracture that silenced the bell forever in the mid-nineteenth century. It remains a heavy, silent reminder of colonial defiance.
