The Hotel Palisade features a rounded corner tower that rises sharply above the jagged ridgeline of Millers Point. Built in nineteen twelve to house workers during the expansion of the nearby shipping wharves, it served as a local hub for dockers and sailors. During the nineteen seventies, the hotel became a site of fierce community protest when residents successfully blocked plans to demolish the building. It sits today as a rare survivor of the area's maritime past, still anchoring the corner.
