Former Geological Survey of Canada Building

The three story limestone building at the corner of Sussex Drive and George Street wears a heavy coat of gray paint today, but it served as the headquarters for the Geological Survey of Canada for over forty years. Sir William Logan founded the survey in eighteen forty-two to hunt for minerals and map the wilderness. His team spent decades hauling crates of fossils and rocks into these offices, including the first discovery of dinosaur bones in Canada.
