The Museum of Jewish Montreal occupies a narrow, brick-faced storefront on Saint Laurent Boulevard. It operates as a community hub dedicated to mapping and preserving the history of the Jewish population that once turned this street into a bustling center of immigrant life. In nineteen forty-two, a young man named Hyman Kahan opened his own pharmacy here, filling the prescriptions for the neighborhood’s families. The museum uses this former drugstore to archive the stories of the families who built the city.
