The Théâtre St-Denis features a towering, light-colored stone facade topped with a large, illuminated sign that cuts across the skyline of Saint Denis Street. It opened in nineteen sixteen as a grand cinema palace, serving as a primary cultural hub for the French-speaking population of Montreal. During the nineteen thirties, the management invited the legendary singer Mistinguett to perform, marking the start of a long tradition of hosting international music stars and theatrical productions on this stage.
