Clock Tower

The Montreal Clock Tower stands at the edge of the Saint Lawrence River, a tall column of white stone topped by a four-faced clock that echoes the design of Big Ben. It was built between nineteen nineteen and nineteen twenty-two as a memorial to the sailors from Montreal who died during the First World War. When it was finished, Captain John A. Macdonald of the harbour police kept the time, ensuring the ships entering the port stayed exactly on schedule.
