Place d'Youville

park garden

Place d'Youville is defined by the stone ruins of the Youville Stables, a collection of low, rugged warehouses that sit at the center of the square. Built in the eighteen-thirties, these walls once housed the delivery horses for a nearby hospital run by the Grey Nuns. After the stables were abandoned and nearly demolished in the sixties, the city repurposed them as an office complex, preserving the original masonry and the narrow alleyways where the draft horses once stood.
