Silo number five dominates the Old Port skyline with its massive, interconnected concrete towers and rusted metal chutes. It operated as a grain elevator for decades, serving as the primary hub for shipping Canadian wheat to Europe. In nineteen twenty-three, an explosion ripped through the annex, killing twenty-two workers and forcing a massive reconstruction of the facility. The structure remains a heavy industrial relic of a time when the port defined the economic life of the city.
