Théâtre de Quat'Sous

The Théâtre de Quat'Sous occupies a converted synagogue, marked by a distinct, modest facade of brick that sits quietly among the residential rows of the Plateau. Paul Buissonneau founded the company in nineteen fifty-five, pulling his actors into a space where they performed plays on a shoestring budget. During the early days, the company survived on such meager means that the actors frequently handled the construction of the sets and the cleaning of the floors themselves between rehearsals and opening nights.
