A row of large, copper brewing tanks stretches across the wall behind the bar at L'amère à boire. Since opening in nineteen ninety-six, this spot has focused on traditional beer styles that were difficult to find in Montreal at the time. When the founders started the brewery, they committed to pouring their ales directly from those tanks rather than using pressurized gas systems. The staff often serves these beers at lower carbonation levels to highlight the specific character of each batch.
