Maison Baumgarten

historic

The Maison Baumgarten stands out with its distinct grey stone facade and the rounded, decorative pediment sitting atop the main entrance. Built in eighteen ninety-four for the merchant Paul-Hermann Baumgarten, the house replaced the earlier residential structures of the Peter McGill neighborhood with a touch of German-influenced design. Baumgarten lived here while overseeing his import business, filling the home with high-quality goods from overseas. Today, the building serves as a quiet reminder of the wealthy families who once anchored this now bustling corridor.
