The JW Marriott Cannes stands on the Boulevard de la Croisette with a distinctive stepped, white facade that holds the site of the former Palais des Festivals. This was the original home of the Cannes Film Festival from nineteen forty-nine until nineteen eighty-two. When the festival moved to its current location, the old building was demolished. In its place rose this hotel, which retains the iconic red carpet stairs outside, now serving as the grand entrance to the lobby rather than the cinema.
