The IGY Vieux-Port de Cannes features a concrete breakwater that stretches into the Mediterranean, sheltering rows of yachts behind a stone wall built in the nineteen thirties. Originally a simple landing point for fishermen, the harbor shifted when the nearby Palais des Festivals began attracting massive crowds for the film industry. During the nineteen eighties, the city deepened the basin to accommodate the superyachts that now define the skyline, permanently changing the scale of the harbor from a local wharf to a global maritime hub.
