The Hotel Barrière Le Majestic stands out for the white art deco facade that stretches along the Promenade de la Croisette. Henri Ruhl commissioned the hotel in nineteen twenty-three to accommodate the influx of wealthy travelers arriving on the French Riviera. During the liberation of France in nineteen forty-four, the German army seized the building for use as a local headquarters. When the soldiers retreated, they stripped the interior of its furniture and brass fittings, leaving the structure hollowed out for the owners.
