Place Félix Éboué

landmark

Place Félix Éboué centers on a circular fountain featuring bronze lions sculpted by Gabriel Davioud. Originally commissioned for the Place du Château d’Eau in eighteen seventy-four, the fountain moved to its current home in nineteen thirty. The square itself honors Félix Éboué, a colonial administrator who became the first prominent French official to rally to the Free French forces in nineteen forty. His ashes were transferred to the Pantheon in nineteen forty-nine, marking his role in the liberation of the country.
