Hypercacher kosher supermarket siege

The storefront on Avenue de la Porte de Vincennes has a plain, modern facade that looks like dozens of other shops in the twentieth arrondissement. In January of twenty fifteen, this building became the site of a four-hour hostage standoff. A gunman entered the kosher supermarket, killed four people, and held others captive until police raided the shop. The incident happened two days after the attack on the Charlie Hebdo offices, and it left a permanent mark on the neighborhood and the city.
