The boat you see moored here, currently known as Le Bateau Phare, spent the first decades of its life as a working lighthouse vessel named the Osprey. It was constructed in 1955 in Dartmouth, England, and spent twenty years anchored off the coast of Ireland to warn passing ships of dangerous waters. Its hull, which now supports a vibrant cultural scene, was engineered specifically to withstand the brutal conditions of the open Atlantic.
