Théâtre 13 / Bibliothèque is one half of a unique dual-venue institution that anchors the theater scene in this part of Paris. While the original site at boulevard Auguste-Blanqui has served the public since nineteen eighty-one, this location on rue du Chevaleret opened in twenty-eleven to expand the theater's capacity to support new generations of artists. By operating both sites, the institution provides a dedicated hub where young, independent companies can rehearse and stage ambitious new work. The layout of this venue, designed as an amphiteather, creates an intimate proximity between the performers and the audience that defines its character. It functions as a vital professional springboard, frequently hosting festivals that guide directors from their first concepts all the way to a full public run.
