Aretha Franklin Garden

park garden

The Jardin Aretha Franklin features a prominent, colorful mural of the Queen of Soul painted across a long brick wall. This small neighborhood space in the twentieth arrondissement appeared in twenty nineteen, a year after the singer passed away. Local officials chose to name this public park in her honor because the neighborhood values the legacy of her music and her role in the civil rights movement. Children play on the swings here while Aretha’s face remains bright and vibrant above the gravel paths.
