square Séverine

Square Séverine occupies the site of the former reservoir of the Saint-Fargeau neighborhood. When the city replaced the old water system, they transformed the concrete basin into a public garden. The original iron railings still border the space, and the ground retains a subtle slope from its days as a reservoir floor. In the nineteen twenties, the city installed a small playground where neighborhood children gathered, eventually naming the park after the French journalist and activist Caroline Rémy, known simply as Séverine.
