Salle Pleyel

The Salle Pleyel features a sharp, angular facade of white stone that stands out among the traditional Haussmann buildings on the Rue du Faubourg Saint-Honore. Designed by Gustave Lyon in nineteen twenty-seven, this hall served as the premier venue for symphonic music in Paris for decades. During the second world war, the German occupation force seized the building, turning it into a propaganda tool for the Nazi regime. They hosted concerts here to project an image of cultural normalcy while Paris remained under their control.
