The Jardin Vitaly occupies a narrow, quiet strip of land tucked between apartment buildings on the Rue de Charonne. It is a community garden created by local residents who reclaimed a derelict piece of private property back in two thousand and eight. Behind the chain link fence, the beds are filled with a mix of wild herbs, vegetables, and fruit trees managed entirely by neighborhood volunteers. A wooden sign by the entrance lists the names of the gardeners currently tending the soil.
