The Parc de Bercy holds a strange secret behind its manicured lawns and modern footbridges. Until the nineteen eighties, this stretch of the Seine bank hosted the largest wine market in the world. Thousands of barrels arrived daily by boat, rolling across these docks to fill the massive warehouses that once lined the river. You can still spot a few old vine stocks and stone railway tracks embedded in the garden paths, relics from the days when wine flowed through here like water.
