This venue began in eighteen forty-eight as the Divan Japonais, a café-concert where Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec sketched the performers and the audience alike. Later, the space hosted poets and cabaret acts before evolving into a modern music hall. It remains a venue for live rock and indie bands, continuing a tradition of nightlife that started here over one hundred years ago.
