Square Jules Ferry

park garden

The Square Jules Ferry in Bagnolet features a distinct, fenced perimeter enclosing a patch of green space that sits directly above a bustling highway tunnel. It exists because urban planners in the nineteen seventies needed a way to cap the open trench of the A three motorway, which sliced through the neighborhood. Engineers built a concrete slab to cover the noise and exhaust, and workers added the park on top to reconnect the streets. Residents play soccer on the grass today.
