Théâtre de l'Acacia

Acacia Théâtre was founded in 1994 by a Métis director from the Caribbean and a Franco-Austrian actress. They chose the name Acacia because the tree is known for its resilience, which they adopted as a symbol of immortality and cultural rebirth. The founders created the company specifically to challenge racism and combat what they described as inculturation. Their work draws on literary texts from around the globe to reveal universal values while celebrating the specific richness of mixed-race heritage.
