A pagoda roof with flared, tiled eaves rises above the trees on the edge of the Bois de Vincennes, marking the home of the Kagyu-Dzong Buddhist center. Built in the nineteen eighties, the structure serves as a temple for the Karma Kagyu school of Tibetan Buddhism. Its architect, Jean-Luc Massot, designed the building to mirror traditional Bhutanese monasteries while meeting strict Parisian safety codes. Before it stood here, the site housed a temporary pavilion from the nineteen thirty-one Colonial Exhibition.
