The white stone facade of the Chateau de Bercy sits back from the street, defined by the heavy, ornate iron gates that once signaled the grandest estate in the region. Designed by architect Louis Le Vau in the late seventeenth century, it served as a private residence for the Malon family. The house hosted lavish parties for royal guests who traveled from Paris to escape city life. During the French Revolution, the estate faced plunder, and its vast gardens eventually vanished into the industrial landscape.
