The Akotoku Academy in Ussher Town is a squat, weathered building characterized by its faded blue paint and the heavy, rusted metal bars covering the windows. While it serves as a neighborhood boxing gym today, the structure began its life as a local schoolhouse. Decades ago, boxing legend D.K. Poison turned this space into a training ground for young fighters. He saw potential in the cramped classrooms, transforming them into a ring where he prepared for his own world title matches.
