Gurudwara Sisganj Sahib New Delhi

The white marble structure of Gurudwara Sisganj Sahib features a striking gold-leafed dome that rises above the dense markets of Chandni Chowk. This site marks the spot where the ninth Sikh Guru, Tegh Bahadur, was beheaded in sixteen seventy-five on the orders of the Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb. He refused to convert to Islam, choosing death instead. The shrine commemorates his sacrifice, housing the trunk of the tree under which he was executed, preserved behind glass as a silent witness to that day.
