The British Magazine Memorial in Kashmere Gate stands as a heavy, square masonry block surrounded by a small iron railing. It commemorates the ammunition dump that British soldiers blew up during the eighteen fifty-seven uprising to prevent it from falling into rebel hands. Sergeant Munsoor and his small crew sacrificed themselves in the explosion, which leveled the structure and sent a shockwave across Delhi. The current memorial marks the spot where the original magazine once sat, preserving a violent, singular moment.
