Kinari Bazar identifies itself by the dense canopy of tangled electrical wires overhead and the sheer volume of gold and silver tinsel cascading from the storefronts. This narrow lane serves as the city’s primary wholesale market for wedding finery and intricate bridal embroidery. In the late nineteenth century, a wealthy merchant named Lala Chunna Mal lived in a massive mansion nearby, and his descendants still hold properties that define the street’s edges today. Gold-threaded fabrics remain the currency of this trade.
