Masjid Shaikhan

The facade of Masjid Shaikhan features intricate blue tile work that contrasts sharply with the surrounding pink sandstone walls of the Badi Chaupar intersection. Built during the era of the Kachwaha rulers, the mosque served the growing population of Muslim artisans and merchants invited by the royal court to settle in the new city of Jaipur. Local tradition holds that the craftsmen responsible for the mosque were among those brought from Delhi specifically to lend their expertise to the construction of the city.
