Jantar Mantar

The Jantar Mantar consists of nineteen massive stone astronomical instruments, their sharp geometric silhouettes cutting against the Jaipur skyline. Maharaja Jai Singh the second built these structures in the early eighteenth century to measure time, predict eclipses, and track the stars with unprecedented accuracy. The Samrat Yantra stands as the tallest, a towering sundial ninety feet high that casts a shadow precise enough to read local time within two seconds. Jai Singh spent years refining these masonry designs, obsessing over scale to minimize human error.
