Green Tea & Sweets CAFE Osaka Chakai

The Osaka Chakai shop front holds a long row of wooden latticework, known as koushi, which patterns the exterior in thin, rhythmic vertical lines. This cafe exists to teach visitors about the specific tea culture of Osaka, a city that historically favored a more relaxed and mercantile approach to tea than the rigid ceremonies of Kyoto. A merchant named Daisuke Tani opened this space to share traditional matcha preparation methods while keeping the atmosphere quiet enough for a conversation over a bowl.
