The Alexander Nevsky Church features a distinct, ornate green facade tucked into the tight stone corridor of the Christian Quarter. Inside, the site preserves a section of a second-century Roman gateway, known as the Gate of Judgment. Russian explorers identified this arch in the nineteenth century, leading them to believe the site marked the path where Jesus walked toward Golgotha. The Russian Imperial family purchased the land to protect these ruins, which remain the centerpiece of the sanctuary today.
