The Sultan Khan features thick, rough-hewn stone walls and deep, vaulted ceilings that support the weight of the city above it. Built during the late thirteenth century, this structure served as a caravanserai for traveling merchants and their animals. It provided shelter along the main road to Jaffa Gate. In the nineteen seventies, the space became a theater, where Hanoch Levin staged his plays. A metal ring used to tether camels still sticks out from the masonry near the entrance.
