Café Villarías

food drink

The iron sign above Café Villarías features a silhouette of a coffee grinder, a mark of the shop’s century-long tenure on this corner. When it opened in nineteen twenty-four, the owner, Antonio Villarías, sourced beans from the Veracruz highlands and roasted them in small batches right in the storefront. The smell of burning sugar and dark coffee still catches the wind on this street. It remains a business run by the same family, operating the original cast-iron roasters from decades ago.
