Nejjarine Fountain

The Nejjarine Fountain stands out for its sprawling mosaic of zellij tilework and the deeply carved cedar wood canopy that hangs over the water basin. Built in the mid-eighteenth century under the order of Sultan Abdallah, it served as a vital public resource for travelers and merchants entering the woodworkers district. When the water flowed here, workers would pause their labor to drink, and pilgrims often stopped to fill their jugs while passing through the narrow, crowded streets of the old medina.
