Nejjarine Museum

The Nejjarine Museum of Wooden Arts and Crafts sits behind a massive, elaborately carved cedar wood door that dominates the square. This building started as a caravanserai, a merchant inn designed to shelter traders and their pack animals as they arrived in the medina with goods from across the desert. Built in the eighteenth century, the courtyard holds the iron rings where men once tethered their mules, while the upper balconies still show the rooms where they stored their spices and silks.
