Roman Catholic Church of the Visitants

The Church of the Visitants stands out for its curved, rococo facade that seems to ripple against the street. It owes its survival to a decision made by the German army in nineteen forty-four. While much of Warsaw was systematically leveled during the uprising, the soldiers chose this church as a temporary storage facility for plundered furniture and art. They spared the structure to protect their haul, leaving it as one of the few buildings in the neighborhood that avoided destruction.
