The Hotel Bristol sports an ornate, cream-colored facade covered in intricate neo-Renaissance carvings and heavy stone balconies. Ignacy Jan Paderewski, the world-famous pianist and eventual Prime Minister of Poland, spearheaded its construction in nineteen hundred and one to bring a grand European style to Warsaw. While other buildings crumbled during the second world war, the Bristol remained mostly intact. German officials turned the lobby into a headquarters, but the structure stayed standing, housing the city's stories within its carved walls.
