Czapski Palace

The Czapski Palace sits on Krakowskie Przedmiescie with a pair of stone eagles perched atop its entrance gate. Since the early nineteenth century, this building served as the home of the Krasiński family, where the poet Zygmunt Krasiński spent his youth. During the Warsaw Uprising in nineteen forty-four, the palace burned, leaving only the walls. The Academy of Fine Arts now occupies the space, but the ghost of the nineteenth century remains in the courtyard, where a replica of the Colleoni monument stands.
