Kloetzlikeller

The heavy, arched wooden door of the Kloetzlikeller opens into a subterranean chamber beneath a seventeenth-century townhouse in the heart of Bern. Its limestone walls and low, vaulted ceilings trace back to the city's medieval foundations. For generations, this cellar served as a public wine bar, a space where local political deals and private arguments unfolded within earshot of the Aare River. It remains one of the few authentic, preserved vaulted cellars where the original stone character dictates the mood of the room.
