Ion Square Gardens

Ion Square Gardens began its life in eighteen forty-five as a private residential square. It was built by a local firm called the Pritchards, who owned a nearby brick and tile works. The square originally featured thirty-eight small terraced cottages, each barely fifteen feet wide, arranged on three sides of a central green. For the workers living in the crowded neighborhoods nearby, this small interior garden provided a rare and welcome oasis.
