Broadview Terrace rises in three distinct tiers of white stucco against the hillside, each level crowned by a flat roof and a pergola. Arthur and Nina Zwebell designed this apartment complex in nineteen twenty-three to mimic a Mediterranean village. They wanted to provide flexible, open studio space for silent film actors. The Zwebells lived in one of the units themselves, acting as both landlords and neighbors to the performers who navigated the early days of the motion picture industry here.
