Boardner's by La Belle

The facade of Boardner's features a faded, mid-century neon sign hanging above a recessed entrance on Cherokee Avenue. Since nineteen forty-seven, this bar has operated in the same narrow space, serving as a neighborhood anchor long before the surrounding blocks were heavily gentrified. Steve Boardner bought the business from a veteran who had run it as a grocery store, transforming the interior into a classic dark-wood pub. It remained a haunt for character actors and working writers waiting for their next big break.
